Normal and excessive emotions explained
It is normal to feel happy, relaxed, cautious, sad or annoyed. These are quite natural emotions that we feel and therefore they do not affect your energy meridians. Life goes on peacefully and contentedly when you experience these. How about excessive? Excessive feelings are excitement, anger, frustration, embarrassment, grief, disappointment, fear, anxiety and terror. I am sure you can think of a few others to add to the list because you probably get the idea by now that very strong ones are referred to here as excessive or as negative. Even excitement has the ability to change our thinking in a way we might regret later.
Energy meridians and your emotions
Even though your energy meridians were discovered about 4,000years ago as used by the Chinese for acupuncture, there is a lot of research currently being done by western medicos and researchers to measure these meridians, just like they did before they discovered the electrical signals that govern the regulating and performance of our hearts, and the minute electrical pulses that are produced by our brains. What was discovered in the 1980's is that the energy meridians are sensitive to anxiety and they become blocked or partially blocked whenever the brain is reminded of an anxiety. This in turn causes the excessive feelings described above. Another way to put it is to say that whenever you have an anxiety, you have a meridian blockage. The patting process described in this website starting at

unblocks the meridians which allows the excessive emotion to disappear - almost instantly. This is mostly permanent although there can be many aspects contributing to the emotion so it might take a few variations of patting to completely clear the excessive emotion. Once cleared you will find yourself suddenly released from a burden that had been weighing you down and which prevented you from acting relaxed and enjoying yourself in the company of potential soul mates. Examples are the removal of phobias such as a 'fear of heights, or spiders', or removal of a poor self image, or lack of confidence, or a fear of dating, or a fear of relationships.
Natural caution is never affected by patting
When someone is relieved of their fear of heights it does not stop their natural caution from telling them that it is dangerous to go too close to the edge. It just means they are no longer afraid of looking down from a height. When patting on the meridian points removes the fear of heights, it only removes the strong anxiety that is associated with the heights problem that was causing a blockage of the energy flow. Once released the energy flow returns to normal. Patting can only return the meridians flow and the connected excessive emotions to normal, it cannot go past normal. If you patted for confidence, you would remove all the fears and anxiety connected with your feelings of low confidence and once removed you would feel very self assured, but you would not do anything foolish because you would be in control and relaxed while feeling very confident. It is more likely that you would do something foolish if you felt a lack of confidence because you can become desperate out of sheer frustration and the fear of missing out. Return to
